My Meal Prep Journey

Image
For this post I will be sharing what I like to do on my meal prep days. Typically I go out and buy all my groceries for meal prepping on Sundays. Then, I cook everything on the same day. My meal preps consist of chicken or ground turkey as my source of protein, Jasmine rice as my carbohydrate source, and asparagus or Brussel sprouts as my vegetable. I like to keep my meal preps as simple as possible. Also, I use a macro counter app to track the amount of macros I eat in my meal preps. My goals to hit for each macronutrient are 244 grams of protein a day, 324 grams of carbs in a day, and 73 grams of fat per day. My calorie consumption consists of about 3,000 calories a day too. So this has been my meal prep journey that I follow on a daily basis. I hope this motivates anyone reading this to start meal prepping as well because this will save you both time and money.

Interval and Intensity Training

Interval and Intensity Training     For my Applied Principles of Exercise class this morning we did an Interval and Intensity specific workout. We used spin bikes as our type of workout. The sets we were doing were a 1:1/2, 1:1, and 1:2 work to rest ratio. Our professor made this workout a challenge for us to show how the effects of intensity in a workout and the amount of recovery time in between sets has on the body. My heart rate was measured to be around 140 bpm by the time the workout was over, so this proved I was pushed hard physically. Overall, this was a good experience and a great warmup for any sport.

Track & Field

Track & Field For my post today I will talk about my journey in Track & Field before college. It all started in middle school and I was not involved in any sports. My parents wanted me to do something other than just school so they suggested Track & Field. I was not the type that enjoyed running but I found out there were events that did not involve cardio and that was throwing. I started out not very good at shotput and discus as most people do, but I liked the challenge and wanted to get much better at the sport. So, I kept practicing and training as much as I could and by the time I was in high school during my junior year I made championship qualification marks for shotput but did not place on the podium. I was 1 place off of making it. I was more determined than ever to make the podium but my senior season was taken away due to COVID and I did not compete for a whole year. That was a quick summary of my journey in high school/middle school track & field, thoug...

Lift for Today

Image
Lifting  Today, I will be squatting heavy as part of my workout. The sets I will perform range from 68%-77% of my 1 rep max. I will start with a brief dynamic warmup that will consist of rope jumping for 30 seconds, 20 seconds, and 10 seconds with increasing intensity. I will pair this workout with lower body stretching to help prevent the risk of injury in between sets. To end this workout I will use a foam roller to perform a full body recovery routine.
